At the Playboy Ph Tenth Year Anniversary Party…

Hi everyone!

It has been awhile since I write a blog entry. I am very excited to be back and hopefully, I will be more active.

So what happened to me in my two months hiatus?

First, I was and still dealing with personal problems. I am truly positive that I would be alright soon. I'm really sorry if I've been away.

Second, my Weebly blog site crashed. I wasn't able to retrieve it so I was very disappointed because I wouldn't be able to bring back my blog features from the website.

Lastly, I've been more focused on joining writing workshops and contests. I'm currently part of an online writing workshop and our deadline is getting near yet, I'm scribbling this blog post with so much thrilled.

Here is my first blog entry with blogspot.com!

Last February, a writer friend of mine shared a call of submission for Playboy Ph Magazine.

I was hesitant to join the writing contest because I was doing another story but my friend who I was pushing to submit told me that I should send an entry as well.

I was able to finish the short story in two weeks and made it before the deadline. At the back of my mind,  I was happily patting myself for producing a story in a short period of time. It was enough for me.

By the third week of April, I received an email and I thought I was imagining the surprise news.

My short story: Room 00, a mystery thriller about a psychologist and her 'twin' was chosen as one of the top 10 shortlisted winners of their first Fiction Writing Contest.

It was unexpected. I was shocked and jumping for joy when I saw the actual post on their Facebook page. It was surreal!

Only the winning entry would be printed on their May-June issue but I was grateful to be invited to their 10th Anniversary Party.

The event took place in Revel at the Palace in BGC, Taguig last May 17, 9 pm

Honestly, it was my first time to go inside a high-end club. And I was not sure if the outfit that I wore that night was appropriate for the place yet, I went there just to know the winner and experience being inside a club.

The entrance fee for the said event was whopping 1,000 PHP but you would get their anniversary issue and unlimited drinks on the bar.  So, it was a win-win situation. Unfortunately, I did not avail the perks because I had a bad experience with one glass of mojito three years ago.

Sadly, I spent three hours standing inside the club because there was no reserved table for us (writers). After the announcement of the winner, I left because my feet were sore tired and I was hungry.

My entry didn't get the first prize but I was thankful that I went inside a club to see how elite people mingle and attend a once in a lifetime event.

I hadn't had photos during the party because it was too dark and I kept myself at the back because some men were already drunk. I also tried to ask few persons to take a picture of me but they were all busy, please bear with my 'selfie'.

The Playboy Ph 10th Anniversary issue would be available soon and you can buy a copy of your own for 199 PHP.
